TTC-4420 |
The Millennium Trail Counter is a portable, battery powered instrument for counting trail traffic in remote areas. The original trail counter was designed and developed at the U.S. forest service equipment development center. Diamond Traffic Products manufactured that unit for many years under agreement with the U.S. Forest service.
Diamond Traffic Products has redesigned and upgraded the unit to operate on 4 “D” cell flashlight batteries for 12-15 months. The trail counter uses a light-weight, waterproof aluminum housing which is visually identical to the old counter. However, the bulky external battery box has been eliminated. The counter is designed to bolt to the backside of a tree (or post) and is easy to conceal and install.
Basically, the instrument consists of a scanner and a reflector. The Cast Aluminum housing contains the electronics, the optics, the LCD, a sonic device to aid beam alignment and provision for the four “D” cell batteries in a lockable battery compartment.
In operation, the scanner is mounted on one side of the trail and the reflector on the other side (see product brochure). The scanner and reflector can be separated up to 110 feet (220ft total beam distance).
To prevent detection by hikers, which may result in vandalism, the scanner housing has been designed to be as small as possible and is finished in dull camouflage. The infrared beam is not visible to the naked eye, and the counter makes no noise. The counter has been designed so it cannot be tripped by falling leaves, walking sticks, or other small objects. It will not register more than one count for long objects like horses, canoes and cycles.
The 110’ range obtained with the trail traffic counter gives fieldmen the opportunity to use natural camouflage to conceal the device.
The TTC-4420 can be purchased with optional time interval recording ability. The unit keeps grand totals and up to 512 interval records. Record interval choices are 1 hr, 6 hr, 1 day, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14, and 30 days. The DataHog retrieval unit can download data to be entered in the a PC computer at the office with minimal effort.

Pegasus |
The Pegasus is a lightweight, compact vehicle counter. It will count up to four lanes of traffic using road tube, piezo, and/or loop presence sensors. The Pegasus can be fitted with two or four road tube sensors, up to four remote inputs, two or four loop inputs, and two or four piezo or resistive sensor inputs.
The Pegasus can be programmed via a laptop, PC, TAM, by the counter keyboard/display, or remotely with a modem.

Sprite |
The Sprite is an inexpensive, compact, rugged 1 or 2 lane time interval traffic counter, using road tubes or loops. Counting methods are directional, subtraction and conventional. The simplified programming is accomplished using sprite’s three keys and consists of number of lanes, count method, time interval and start.
Interval Volumes can be read directly on the Sprite display and paged back to show all recorded intervals. The Sprite can also be programmed and retrieve data using a desktop/laptop PC or datahog.
The lightweight Sprite is powered by either 5 “C” cell or 8 “D” cell batteries giving 12 months of operation with road tubes and six months with one loop. An optional rechargeable battery system is available.
